Still Going Ape Sh*t

I love when artist can re-imagine and redo a classic movie poster but still keep it with a clean timeless look and not overly done. The Planet of the Apes film series is one of my all time favorites so this is definitely something that I might have to jump on.

Austin, Texas’s Mondo has linked up with artists Rich Kelly, Jason Edmiston, Phantom City Creative, Florian Bertmer, Martin Ansin and Ken Taylor for a series of limited edition Planet of the Apes posters. Released yesterday as a set and then again today individually, the exclusive prints display a unique take on the movie posters that originally promoted the classic film franchise. Spanning from 1968′s Planet of the Apes to 1973′s Battle for the Planet of the Apes, the entire run of exclusive prints was scooped up by fans of the franchise in a matter of minutes.

It's Like Butter Baby

Catch me Sunday night in Vancouver at Mirage Club for ButterMilk Pancakes. I'll be spinning anything and everything that bangs, thumps and bumps.

The Sound of Kung Fu

Hot Peas & Butta is back with another installment to the Sound of Film series with the current being dedicated to the classic 42nd Street Shaw Brothers Kung Fu films and two of the greatest composers of all time, Lalo Schifrin and Roy Budd, for this cinematic adventure titled Schifrin & Budd Play Shaw. In true Hot Peas and Butta fashion, Skeme Richards reworks dialog from some of his favorite flix and rearranges them to his favorite film scores which gives it a totally new feel from both angles.

Sit back, relax, grab your popcorn and enjoy this adventure.

Deep Pop Culture

A few weeks back I had the honor of joining a live recording of Rick Gordon's Pop Cult Podcast with special guests Power Man & Iron Fist aka the diggin duo Phill Most Chill and Paul Nice. During the broadcast we talked about everything nostalgia, movies, toys, pop culture and more.

Here's the link to the crazy convo that went between three mad men on 1/15/12.

A Novel Idea

There's something to be said about the DIY attitude of artists that go the extra mile to put out something that's really fresh and at times better than the big budget projects with major push.

Today I finally received in the mail a copy of Jay Potts graphic novel, World of Hurt "The Thrill Seekers" which a raw and gritty black & white blaxploitation era comic. This book has all of the key ingredients to possibly be made into volumes, it's Afros, and Kung Fu, women and guns, sex and violence plus a great storyline!

I highly recommend picking up this book before there all sold out, and if your unfamiliar with the World of Hurt be sure to check out more info on the "internets #1 Blaxploitation webcomic" at

Fresh Like Fabreeze

A few days back the homie and Kung Fu flick aficionado Paul Nice sent me a sneak peak of an upcoming project that he and fellow King Digger Soul Man aka Phill Most Chill are working on under the name of The Fabreeze Brothers. They've since officially leaked this snippet titled "Power Man & Iron Fist which will be dropping soon on Paul Nice's label Sure Shot!

Swiss New Years Eve Rewind

Finally getting around to doing a little updating on the blog from my New Years Eve Switzerland trip. Had alot of fun doing an all Funk, Soul & Classic Disco night up in the Alps. No better way to end the year and begin a new one than with family and friends doing what you love to do most, rocking the world!

Stamp In

I love over night flights, you wake up to a new day in a different country.

After landing at Zurich Airport I like to take the hour train ride to Thun City so that I can regroup and get my mind right.

If you've seen any of my other pics you'll notice that this is the same castle that you see from my hotel room. I finally had enough time to actually sight see and visit the castle which was once a prison and now is where all of the judges and lawyers operate from.

Overlooking Thun City

My Swiss family, Peggy and Jazzy Jes

Even rocked white Serato vinyl Just for this white affair.

New Years Day Brunch up in the hills.

Business Class Flight Home Dinner, starting off with Salmon, Pretzel Bread and Salad.

Steak with a Dijon Mustard, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots

After a few Vodka and OJ's and catching up reading Ronin 5 it's time to stretch out and sleep for the flight home.

Ended the year getting one and began another with one, stamps! Here's to a busy and successful 2012!
