Yes It's True, I Am.....

Man of Travel

There's various positives and negatives in traveling the globe to entertain people, the negatives being away from family for periods at a time, some times not eating healthy, travel delays, plane cancellations and more. But the plus side is being able to see your friends from all over the world, digging for gems, finding that perfect burger and getting laced up with all sorts of goods (ie records, clothes, kicks and other promo items).

The Butta Bros live at The Do Over in L.A.

With the homie DJ P-Trix at Freestyle Session in L.A.

AF1 vs Pro Keds Royal Hi

SSS! Limited Edition is always nice

Seems like no matter where I travel to, the first thing people ask me is if I've had a burger.

Shouts to all my fam around the world, people that lace me with goods, and to the great burgers establishments, salute!

L.A. Burger Quest

Back in L.A. again this week and the first thing I had to do after getting off the plane was link up with my fam Ynot and get a burger from Umami. This was my first time eating there and I have to say, this was actually a great burger! The quality of beef, the bun, the homemade cheese and of course fries with homemade ketchup all hit the spot after a long flight.

Comic Art, Still A Great Investment

Fine art isn't always a stuffy piece hanging in a museum or in some rich farts study, sometimes it's as simple as a piece of childhood nostalgia that rakes in the big bucks. Recently John Romita's original Spiderman #49 cover art went on the auction block at Heritage Comics & Comic Art Auction and sold for a $167,300. I still say comics, art and other collectibles are a better investment than the stock market!

45 Sessions x HPB Oakland Recap

A few pics from Jose Lim of this past weekends 45 Sessions x HPB party in Oakland, CA. Shouts to all the DJ's the spun those little records with big holes and to all the people that came out to dance and drink the night away!

Be sure to check out more photos from Jose Lim.

Freestyle Session

Seems like I just left L.A. (actually I did) but now it's off again on Friday to DJ at Freestyle Session. This years lineup is insane with DJ's like Nu-Mark, J-Rocc (Beat Junkies), Charlie Rock (Dojo Soundz) + DJ Premier vs. Pete Rock as an added bonus! That's all in addition to the already anticipated 3 vs 3 Bboy Battle for $20,000. The homie Cros1 really stepped it up this year by keeping it officially raw and understanding that the DJ is the backbone of these events, and without proper sound your jam really isn't offical.

Burger Questing in Cali.

This past weekend Supreme La Rock and myself went on a West Coast swing to San Francisco then L.A. to rock a few parties, while there you know I had to indulge in a tasty burger right? Well how about 3? To be honest with you, the only other meal that I had during my two days in S.F. was the BBQ ribs at Disco Volante.

First up was a tasty little burger from Bongo Burger in S.F. I don't know if it was the all day of diggin and I was extremely hungry or if it was just a good old fashion hamburger but it was good. Really good beef patti and fresh bun made this a winner!

Next up is a burger from The Big Dog in Concord, we spent the morning out diggin so I thought this would be a substitue for not finding any records on the morning dig. It was pretty much an average burger on my scale though.

Finally we have the Golden Gate burger from L.A. which was recommended by... (well lets just call him K) I don't want to put a friend on blast for taking me to get an average burger that was supposed to be on par with a Fathers Office burger. This was an ok burger pretty equal to what you would get from those a Bar/Lounge/ Restaurant that. Although it was a good quality of beef, it just wasn't seasoned properly. I'll give it another shot on my next trip just see if it was a flook but two shots and your out!

Nice with The Slice!

Slice of Spice is back at it again with another Paul Nice Signature 7", this time featuring the Diabolical Biz Markie and cover artwork by Joe Buck! You know the routine, limited edition hot pink vinyl for all the up on it diggers that need bragging rights, but the real score for those who go the extra mile is the Collectors Test Press copies which only 10 were made available and have already sold out! Looks like you'll be searching eBay and paying astronomical prices for this hefty piece of vinyl.

Art Investment

Comic books still seem to be a better investment that the stock market as we see a 9.2 graded issue of Captain America #1 selling at auction recently for $343,000.

Heavy 45 Sessions

Next week Hot Peas and Butta heads out to the Bay Area for some heavy 45 Sessions with the homie Platurn. Platurn recently relaunched his night and it's been crazy so far so you know Supreme and myself wanted to get in on the action. In addition to lugging those funky 45's we'll also be providing exclusive visuals just for the evening!

Seattle Recap In Pics

For the full scoop on how Supreme La Rock and myself aka The Butta Bros enjoyed Seattle, head over to his blog! www.supremelarock.blogspot.com

Hot Peas and "Burger"

There's nothing like flying into a new city to experience one of the best burgers that they have to offer. This past week while in Seattle the homies Supreme La Rock and Big Chan to me to Red Mill Burgers to sample which they describe as the best burgers in Seattle. Well I have to say the fella's didn't steer me wrong on this one!

Burgers up!

Texas BBQ!

It's been a minute since I've highlighted some good eats on the site but the wait is over! This past weekend I had a gig in Houston and you know Texas is king of beef so of course I had to stop pass the one and only Rudy's for some brisket right?! What better way to start your Sunday than with beef and beer?

Taking you Galaxy High w/ Lil Dave

This Thursday we've got a special guest DJ swinging through to drop some gems on you. The homie Lil Dave from Philly's own Illvibe Collective makes his debut and takes you on a galactic journey.

It's Gotta Be The Shoes

Today, Converse Inc. announces the launch of the Converse First String Standards Dr. J Pro Leather. Honoring the legend of Julius “Dr. J” Erving and the shoe he made history in, Converse recreates the classic silhouette in a premium crafted version.
The original shoe launched in 1976, the Pro Leather shoe is not only the shoe that Dr. J made famous, it’s the shoe that ushered in the modern era of basketball footwear.

Only 168 of the white/navy version will be available of the Converse First String limited-edition collection.

Having a pair of these back in the day with the Red brings back so many memories!

Another of my favorite pair of kicks is set to get a new release in the upcoming weeks, the Adidas Campus 80's. The update comes in a clean nubuck colorway which keeps this old school kick classy.

Mark of The Spider

It seems that alot of people are having a problem with Marvel Comics new Spiderman character being half Black half Puerto Rican. Now we're not talking Peter Parker in New York City, we're talking a character who exists in an alternate universe. Some think it is a marketing ploy to sell more books, others think it is some sort of sacrilege to have anyone other than Peter Parker be Spider-Man in any universe, and still others can’t understand why the Spider-man can’t just be a white kid like he’s always been.

It's only a comic people, life is not that serious!!

Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting?!

For a long time now I've been trying to find out why the genre of Kung Fu was so prominent in urban communities on the East Coast (New York & Philadelphia)in particular in the 70's - early 80's and why they have influenced not only myself but countless other DJ's, Producers, Musicians and film buffs after all these years. What made young kids wear Chinese slippers and what made us think they were cool? What made us saw our mothers broom sticks in half to make Nunchakus? Why did we all have Bruce Lee posters hanging in our bedrooms? The 70's / 80's was a great period of time to be a youth, when everything was fun and even though we got into trouble life just seemed so much simpler.

Being a DJ and a lover of classic Martial Arts films you just can't help but to own records with reoccuring theme of Kung Fu. Why Did this influence us so much even though most people have never taken a class in their life?!!

There are a ton of Kung Fu Funk and Disco themed records out there but I have yet to hear the all supreme master of them all.
