She's Still My Go To Girl

Scarlett Johansson is still my go to girl when it comes to beauty and gracing covers or ad campaigns.  Esquire Russia comes through with another clean designed cover for January 2013 with minimal text that usually clogs up many publications from the artist shots that should be the main focus.

The Age Old Debate

I'm still an analog type of guy maintaining and working within a digital realm with an appreciation for both.  I love DJing on analog means but still use digital forms when playing music that doesn't have a certain value that others might have.  The same stands true for photographers that can shoot film without the need of photoshopping or touching up their works to make them look good (Ricky Powell is a prime example).  Film vs Digital in Hollywood is yet another debate, Tarantino stands by film while others go the route of digital but in my opinion unless your shooting a high end explosion special effects filled movie there is no need for digital on a romantic comedy.  But to each his own.

At the end of the day, understand what makes film great and apply it to the digital world and be greater than those that only know digital.

Givin' Dap To James Brown

With the passing of James Brown back in 2006 and now Soul Sister #1 Marva Whitney it's really becoming more and more obvious that we are losing so many of our greats with very few coming in to take up some of the slack and provide us with good music which is sad.  So cherish, support and appreciate those that are still hear before they're gone.

We've done a brand new "Five On The Black Hand Side" James Brown edition over at Hot Peas & Butta on our choice JB produced 45's, head over to see what we chose.

The Pack Up!

Looks like the homies Paul Nice and Phill Most Chill are back on the block with a new 7" heading your way soon.  The new 45 titled "The Pack Up" (Part 1 & 2) delivers yet another blow to head, chest and ear drums as beats and rhymes collide in true Fabreeze Bros fashion.  Be sure to pre order your copy (doubles of course) before they're gone.

Swiss Lovin

It's always an amazing and great time when I visit Switzerland, from Lausanne to Thun the experience is always pleasant.  This past weekend I was in beautiful Thun visiting with the fam, relaxing, throwing parties and taking in the sights.

Do You Know What Time It's?

One thing that I've noticed in the United States is the lack of wall clocks that exist any more, they used to be on the outside of every bank and on prominent office buildings and towers.  Surprisingly you can't even find one in an airport unless you stop at a Travelex Currency Exchange which displays a digital one, Amtrak and train stations are the only ones who still believe in displaying the clock proudly.
After spending the last weekend in Switzerland I noticed that clocks are everywhere, maybe it's the fact that the Swiss make better watches and timepieces than anyone else in the world.

Mondaine has recently released this series of Swiss Railway Wall Clocks which is very iconic and uniquely Swiss.  Available for $175 now.

Into The Darkness

Very few movie franchises get a reboot and actually do the series justice but so far so good with Star Trek as J. J. Abrams sets to make another masterpiece.

Django Unchained Comic Book

Looks like Quentin Tarantino is giving Django Unchained the extra push as it finds it's way to comic book form via Vertigo in a six issue adaptation beginning Dec. 19th.

Beg, Borrow, Steal: Kodoja

It's always great when people appreciate the creative work that you put into your product that your presenting to the world.  We've put a lot of time and work into our Kodoja: Terror Mountain Showdown project, from the 45 / Album to the comic book to making appearances at various comic cons around the states so it's always good to receive positive press.

The good people at GhettoManga recently covered our project in the Beg, Borrow, Steal column of their newest issue.  Issues are available $2 for download or $7 for a physical copy with free download.

The Keystone Connection

It's been a minute since I've had the chance to spin records in Pittsburgh but looks like that all changes this month when Titletown meets Hot  Peas & Butta.  The homie Jay Malls and myself will be closing out the year playing Funk & Soul 45s for one last go around before the party moves to it's new venue in January.  Jay and I haven't spun records on the same deck since 2010 so we're definitely bringing out the gems for the occasion.

Hot Peas & Butta rare visuals will also be on deck to complete the evening sonically and visually.

Rockin Brazil

Had an amazing time last week in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for Redbull BC One.  Was great to catch up with some of my fam from around the world that was in town and also equally mind blowing to DJ the event.

Diabolik 50

Can't believe that the classic Spy "franchise" if you can call it that is, Diabolik is 50 years old and is rebooting with a 50 episode comeback.  Not sure if it will be making it's way to American television but I'll definitely give it a chance to see how it holds up.

Coffee Table Status: If You Like Quentin Tarantino

Seems like my spending on books these days are at an all time high (yes I still by books, no I don't read on a Kindle or iPad).  Being a fan of Quentin Tarantino this is definitely one to add in my ever expanding library which covers some of his key films and goes in depth within the inspirations and ideas behind these "exploitation" style films such as Taking of  Pelham 123, The Killing and City on Fire, starting with Reservoir Dogs up through Django Unchained.

Definitely a treasure trove of info here which even goes deep into Hammer Horror films, the Lone Wolf and Cub series and more.

Coffee Table Status: Ultimate Star Wars Figures

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the first time that a book has been done of this magnitude and complete with every Star Wars figure since it's initial release.  I'm sure fellow collectors like DJ Neil Armstrong or Cut Chemist would enjoy this on their coffee table being that they are heavily into the franchise.

This book showcases the complete and definitive collection of more than 2,500 figures produced over the last 35 years.  Figures can be traced from there evolution in toy form from the time of their firsts appearance through the current design of today (including variants).

Compiled by Stephen J. Sansweet, owner of the world's larges private collection of Star Wars memorabilia.

More Django Unchained

Looks like visual artist Federico Mancosu has created yet another rendition of the Django Unchained poster, this time designing in the classic Japanese B2 60's style design.  The previous works was in the classic Italian style poster and earlier a minimalist US style design.

180 Proof Surehot

It's always great to see fellow DJ's that I have much respect for taking a leap outside the realm of just rocking crowds to being the head honcho of their own labels and being responsible for unearthing music gems for the rest of the world to experience.  DJ Amir is once such person who is doing just that, recently he started his label 180 Proof and is set to release slew of material from the Strata catalog.  First up is the Kenny Cox - Clap Clap! The Joyful Noise LP being released in a 2LP format in black vinyl and a limited edition of 200 color vinyl for those of you collectors that need something extra special.

Be sure to pre-order yours now:  http://180-proof-records.myshopify.com/

Analog Pillow

For all you Hip Hop and Electonic nostalgic producers out there that love your Roland 808 or 909's to the extreme here's something that might make your space even more complete.

Analog Sweden has produced these amazing pillows with you in mind but fair warning that these pieces aren't on the cheap but they are indeed nice.

Game of Thrones

My Sunday evenings have been pretty much on lock with Game of Thrones, then The Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, then The Walking Dead again so I'm definitely looking forward to the new season of Game of Thrones.

DOOMSTRAVAGANZA

Not just anyone can put together an event like DOOMSTRAVAGANZA but the homies DJ Ambush and Mars have done enough to make this years event another banger.  Come find out about the man in the mask this Thursday night.

We Play Records For People That Want To Dance

Had an amazing time rocking on the West Coast this past week with some of my favorite DJ's in the world.  This past Thursday night was with the homie DJ Excel at the only place that I need to play at when in Las Vegas, Insert Coins.  Friday night was in Seattle with my brotha Supreme La Rock and the gentlemen from DUG spinning all Funk & Soul 45s to an amazing crowd as always that love what we do.  Saturday night I made my return visit to L.A. to play at Funky Sole with Music Man Miles and Clifton and oh what a reunion it was!  The place was packed early and everyone came through ready to sweat and that's exactly what they did as we dropped crazy Funk, Soul, Latin, Brazilian Funk and Reggae Funk 45s.  It's been a minute since I've had that type of weekend of back to back, non stop, limited amount of sleep pleasure but it definitely continues to tell me that you don't have to sacrifice your art and creativity by playing bullshit music, you just need to find your lane and give the people that appreciate substance what they need.
