Staying Busy!

Its been a crazy week and I've still got another 48hrs left with things today. Things started off in the beginning of the week with me locked in the lab trying to finish or should I say start a new cd (I've been slacking on getting something new out). Fast forward to Thursday for an early morning commute to NYC to spend a day getting filmed for a UK London TV show about the UK Championships. The show travels the globe follow various crews around to get there take and story on their life and how they prepare for the annual event. This is the second season of the show, which airs on network television and I've been blessed with being featured on the first show that kicks off the new season in October. So the cameras spent the day following me around as we hit a few landmark locations that are important to the Hip Hop culture and then to top it off we hit "Big City Records" where I do a little record shopping for some gems. So that turned into an 8 hour day of cameras rolling and hoping in and out of cabs.

Last night I smash The Walnut Room as usual, one thing that confuses me though is how people want and can grind to reggae shit but when you just throw on some end of the nighter shit they cant dance to it! Its the same damn tempo yet they seem off beat!

Today will be another long day, up early to bounce to New York for Rock Steady Crew anniversary. After that its off to "The Great Expression" party that I do along with Unkle Chip and Teknyc @ Stay Lounge. Another really dope party!

Sunday is all about sleep, thats all. No music, no phones, nothing!

Frank Frazetta!

That name just has a certain mysterious sound to it. Frank Frazetta has definitely been one of my favorite artists since I first dug up on him in the 70's, though he's been painting way before then. His style always brings me back to those days and I always remember him when I see old school vans with the sides painted with similar sceneries or when I go back thru my collection of King Conan comics. Lately I've been trying to cop some of his work and though I've been seeing some of his limited edition signed lithos going for a cool $1000, it hasn't swayed my wants for owning a few.

**Update (July 27th) Added a couple new dates to my schedule.

Plus, The Go Off! in NYC on Every 2nd Saturday of the month and The Great Expression @ Stay Lounge, every 4th Saturday have been bananas as well!

Flip the script.

I love when artists flip the script on characters. Ron English works.

Iconic Figures

Even though I've been slacking (not really cause I've been trying to get my schedule correct for the rest of the year)and haven't been posting alot lately I have been keeping up on things that inspire me in life, one being art. Im trying to really get my game up and collect a few pieces by current artists, especially those that take everyday pop culture characters and put a twist on them. Comic book characters are always good for doing things like that.

Here's a few pieces being shown at an upcoming show before the San Diego Comic Con.

Friday Nights @ WR.

Friday nights at The Walnut Room has been absolutely bananas. I've been able to play alot of stuff that typically a Friday night crowd or majority of the partygoers would usually not rock with. I guess their finally getting tired of alot of the radio bullshit and letting DJ's do their job. Besides the occasional bullshit request that I get the nights have been easy going. Also, Fridays in the summer time are usually slower nights due to everyone hitting the shore for the weekend but attendance has been really good. When your in town be sure to check me out.
