Star Wars Reimagined

For some strange reason I've been heavy on my Star Wars page lately, either rewatching the original trilogy, having original posters framed, playing with my vintage figures under the Xmas tree (see post below) or could it be that Family Guy just released the Star Wars Trilogy Boxset. So I guess it's only fitting that I stumbled across British illustrator Olly Moss' (who I've recently started following in getting into his work) reimagining of the original Star Wars posters. Each are limited edition, numbered and on sale now. He's done a few other posters of movies which all have great imagery and work but still true to the original.

dope! for a second there i thought they were Saul Bass posters - he did some amazing work for some of the classic films (his poster for "Birdman of Alcatraz" is probably the best film print I've ever seen).

Judging from his work, looks like Olly looks up to Bass - as all designers should actually.

thanks for the heads up skeme! gotta get me a signed star wars

Damn, your really up on your stuff Sama! Didn't know you were a fan of Saul Bass' work.

I've been seeing a lot of reimagined posters lately with sorta "tributes" to Bass' work.

These are definitely worthy of a purchase.

i'm a huge fan of poster and postcard design and Bass is a favorite. He can break down an entire movie into one simple idea.

btw, if you haven't, def look into "Art of the Japanese Postcard" by brown, lauder. I got this book after i came back from a trip to okinawa. Amazing collection.

These look amazing, Skeme. A lot of Italian Giallo posters give off a Bass vibe at least to me.

Speaking of STAR WARS, I remember back when EMPIRE STRIKES BACK first came out, my mom bought me this odd shaped collection of EMPIRE paintings. They were unusually large, rectangular in shape. The artwork was amazing on this. One of the images was a rebel riding a lizard creature while an AT AT Walker fires away at him on the ground. It was the only painting I recall not being an actual scene in the movie. I really wish I still had this in my collection. As many times as my mother has moved, it's been lost to time.

I've never seen that piece your talking about Venom, sounds like it was a great piece too. I'm sure it'll pop up somewhere, you know the hunt is never over. And from the sounds of it you really need that back in the collection!

I actually found it at one point in my moms trunk during one of her moves. They were kind of bent up, but not creased. They were definitely not in the pristine shape they were when bought. She was adamant about holding onto them to have them framed, but sadly, that was not the case. I'll see if I can find it and link it to you. It was like 20 to 30 paintings on glossy paper featuring scenes from the movie. Cloud City was featured on the front cover that housed them all.
