This Sunday April 22nd in NYC I'll be on the decks along with Crazy Legs of the Rock Steady Crew playing breaks for Teknycal Knockout.
Commodore Sounds
Ok you might think I'm crazy for this one but it's based strictly off of nostalgic factor and I don't really expect too many people to get it. I'm not a fan of today's electronic generation of music but I have an affection for the sounds of yesterday with alot of the early composers making video game music as well as film compositions. My first computer was a Commodore Vic 20 in 1980, followed by the Commodore 64 in 1983, before the Apple brand became famous the Commodore was the best machine on the market and the games were all top notch for it's time. But one of the things that made these games so great was the music that was composed for them and these tunes have stuck in my head ever since.
Well it looks like someone has gathered some of these tracks and are releasing them on a 2LP vinyl set called "Sid Chip Sounds" The Music of The Commodore 64. 19 original pieces of music have been remastered for this release on gatefold double vinyl. Revolutionary composers such as Martin Galway, Rob Hubbard, David Whittaker and Ben Daglish rose to prominence during the 80s for their technology defying masterpieces whose sounds ranging from simple clicks and beeps to complex musical extravaganzas. This isn't for everyone nor is it something that I would spin in the club but it is something for me to geek out to in the crib which is what I will be doing after I write this post, geeking out playing my old C64.

Django Poster Unchained
Although I'm not sure how I feel about Jamie Foxx being in this film but I'm really excited for this years Quentin Tarantino film Django Unchained. Only he can pull of a film of this caliber and I'm really glad to see that he released a teaser movie poster for the films release, simple and plain without giving away too much. The film stars greats such as Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, RZA, Leonardo DiCaprio and more.

Champaign Burger Quest
If you look back to the beginning of my blog you'll notice that one of the earliest places that my burger quest started was in Champaign Illinois at a place called The Courier Cafe. Surprisingly most of the people that I know that live there have never heard of nor been there but once I put them on it becomes a daily routine for them. I've eaten the same mean every year since when I visit the Courier, bacon burger, steak fries and a vanilla shake and it never fails to fill the stomach. This year I noticed a slight difference in my meal, they changed the bun and I must say it added to the burger experience!
Out In The Wild
Had a great time this past weekend in Champaign IL for IL Breaks 8, was definitely good to catch up with some folks that I haven't seen in a few years as well as a few that I see alot more frequent. One of the great things about traveling to the middle of nowhere is always finding shops with the great records, collectibles and other gems. Here's a few pics from some stores that I try to hit up when I'm out that way, there's always interesting stuff to be had!
