The Soul Spot / Alamo City Soul Club (San Antonio, TX)

Fresh off of my Japan tour and with only a few days of rest in between, I'll be heading to San Antonio to play back to back parties.  First up on April 15th I'll be playing along with The Soul Spot resident DJs and spinning a selection of Modern Soul, Disco and Funk tunes at Tucker's Kozy Korner.  

Then on Saturday night it's all about those little records with a big sound and heavy Funk & Soul cuts as I guest spot at Alamo City Soul Club.  Flavors upon flavors in San Antonio for the weekend so be sure to come out and dance the time away!

Talk To The People

Back in the Brewerytown section of the city next Tuesday night for my monthly 'Talk To The People" at Sarah's Place.  Playing an assortment of Jazz-funk, Rare Groove and classic Disco for an intimate crowd of friends, lovers, locals and residents of the city. $2.50 shots and $3 Sailor Jerry mixed drinks as well as an assortment of beers for your drinking pleasure.

I've started a new monthly (last Tuesday of the month) get together called Talk To The People at Sarah's Place in the Brewerytown section of Philly spinning Jazz-funk, Rare Groove and Disco classics.  I've been heavily inspired by my visits to Japan and spending time in record bars and small bars where an intimate group of people drink, snack and socialize while the DJ plays incredible music. I always feel like there's something lacking in the "social" department that has been replaced by getting turned up or going out just to be seen.

Looking forward to people hanging out with old friends while meeting new ones at Sarah's Place where the beer is cold, drinks are cheap, the music is top shelf and the atmosphere is warm.

Hot Peas & Butta at Mojo Club

Looking forward to once again playing that the legendary Mojo Club in Hamburg Germany on Oct 10th as part of the Hot Peas & Butta Germany 5 year anniversary tour.  Mojo Club is a beautiful venue with an amazing sound system so it's definitely an honor.

Looking forward to bringing Hot Peas & Butta to Strasbourg France next month an playing at Mudd Club as part of their 3 day festival of parties.  We'll be taking over the club on Oct 30th and taking you on a a funk, soul, reggae, rare groove 45 excursion.

Hot Peas & Butta Germany 5 Year Anniversary Tour

Super excited to announce that one month from today we'll be kicking off the Hot Peas & Butta Germany 5 year anniversary tour.  During the month, Scarce One, Selecta M and myself along with special guest DJs will be dropping a heavy dosage of funk, soul, rare groove and reggae 45s in 7 different cities.  To kick things off, we've got something very special in the works so stay tuned for details!

HUSTLE 11th Anniversary w/ DJ Soul Sister

This Saturday night I'll be in New Orleans and blessed with the honor of joining the queen of rare groove, DJ Soul Sister as she celebrates the 11th anniversary of her long running HUSTLE party.  HUSTLE is the party of parties in Nola so if you're in the area and have never been to this night, it's well worth the drive over!

My month long residency for 'Talk To The People' at Sarah's Place in Brewerytown continues this Sunday.  As with the previous 2 weeks, the night is dedicated to Jazz-funk, Rare Groove and classic Disco vinyl selections.

This past Sunday I began my month long residency for a new party that I'm doing called 'Talk To The People'.  It's an all vinyl night of Jazz-funk, Rare Groove and Disco classics happening at Sarah's Place in Brewerytown.  Looking forward to bringing something a bit different to the city, musically speaking.

Hot Peas & Butta x WahWah in Osaka Recap

Had great time last month during my Japan tour with one of the stops being the Hot Peas & Butta meets WahWah party in Osaka.  Always an honor to share the decks with a great lineup of DJs for a packed house of people that love to dance.

WahWah meets Hot Peas & Butta in Tokyo

Last week we threw the first of two double features as Hot Peas & Butta x WahWah in Osaka.  This Friday night we do it once again but this time its Wah Wah meets Hot Peas & Butta in Tokyo at The Room in Shibuya.  The DJ lineup will once again be a heavy one with with a surprise guest stopping through to drop a set in between.

This Saturday night the first of two collaborations goes down in Osaka as Hot Peas & Butta meets Tokyo's WahWah party.  There's a lot of heavy records between these two parties and it makes it's way to Osaka for this special occasion!

Japan 2014 Tour Kick-off

This week kicks off my 2014 Magma Taishi Returns Japan tour and I'm super excited to be rocking these great parties in their country as well as two others in Taipei Taiwan.  First up will be this Friday night's CHAMP party at The Room in Shibuya.  This will be Yosuke Tominaga's release party for his new 7inch, BISCO on his CHAMP label.

Then the following day I will be in Fukuoka DJ'ing at a party that I've heard so many good things about B.W.G. - Black Water Gold spinning that heavy blackness.  Funk, Soul, Disco, Jazz and Rare Groove are on the menu.  Both the CHAMP and B.W.G. parties are strictly vinyl events as are most of the events I'll be play so I'm acking the deep crates for the occasion.

Heading back to Germany in a couple of weeks for the Hot Peas & Butta Germany 4yr anniversary tour.  We'll be stopping in Darmstadt, Cologne and Kiel along the way and rocking with some of our favorite DJs from the Steppin' Out, Riddim & Groove and From Here To Funk parties.

Live at Fresh 45's

Back in July I had the pleasure of heading to Dallas TX to DJ at the premier all 45's party called Fresh 45's with an incredible line up of resident DJ's.  They recorded my set for the rest of the world to hear, so I now present to you, Skeme Richards "Live at Fresh 45s".
